  • Coordinate workshop schedules, labour allocation and service activity
  • Manage service cases from initiation through to completion
  • Liaise with customers regarding breakdowns, repairs and service updates
  • Work closely with parts and workshop teams to minimise downtime
  • Support invoicing, job costing, warranty processing and service administration

To be successful, you will bring: proven experience in a similar service coordination role within heavy equipment or related industries, strong organisational and communication skills, trade-qualified background essential, ideally within mining, quarrying, heavy equipment or mechanical industries, the ability to communicate confidently at senior levels, and the presence to command respect in workshop environments through your previous experience.

This is a diverse and hands-on role that combines workshop-based work with field service support across customer sites. You will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, repairing and troubleshooting a wide range of mobile and fixed crushing, screening and conveying equipment.

  • Service, maintain and repair crushing, screening and conveying equipment
  • Diagnose and rectify mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and PLC-related faults
  • Prepare new, used and rental fleet equipment for customer delivery
  • Carry out field service, breakdown response and preventative maintenance activities
  • Complete service reports and accurately record labour, parts & associated costs
  • Maintain high standards of safety, workmanship and customer service
  • Work independently in the field and collaboratively within the service team
  • Travel to customer sites throughout Queensland and, from time to time, interstate

To be successful in this role, you will have:

    • A trade qualification, preferably in Electrical, Hydraulic or Mechanical disciplines
    • Experience working within a heavy equipment service environment
    • Exposure to and knowledge of the Quarrying, Mining, Crushing & Screening, Construction or related industries
    • Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding capabilities across electrical, hydraulic and PLC systems
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Experience completing service documentation, job reports and parts tracking
    • A professional attitude with a strong commitment to safety and customer service
    • The ability to work independently and manage your time effectively
    • A willingness to travel and respond to customer requirements when required

  • Be physically fit and able to work from ladders and platforms / low level scaffolding.
  • Experienced using high water pressure washing equipment.
  • Be able to work un-supervised as well as part of a team.
  • Are well disciplined and tidy by nature and have a pro-active approach towards workshop / yard maintenance.
  • Experienced with using a Forklift and have the appropriate licences.
  • Warehouse experience, desirable.

In your role as MAINTENANCE FITTER, primarily you will be responsible for service, maintenance, repair, and technical fault finding in the field and at various SMA facilities, working on Mobile and Fixed Crushing, Screening & Conveying equipment, Australia wide.

You will split your time between preparing new, used, and rental fleet equipment prior to delivery to clients and supporting installed equipment in the field.

The successful applicant will be required to meet the following criteria:

  • Trade qualified within preference given to the Electrical, Hydraulic and Mechanical trades
  • Excellent written and communication skills in the English language
  • Good working knowledge of Crushing, Screening and Conveying equipment
  • Understands the working conditions and has a proven working history from within a heavy equipment service environment, such as, the Quarrying, Mining, or allied industries
  • Understands and accepts the challenges of the working environment, activities, demands and needs of a busy service department within the heavy equipment, quarry, and mining sectors
  • Electrical, Hydraulic and PLC control trouble shooting experience
  • Good working experience of processes and procedures related to documenting service work to capture costs and parts usage.
  • Can work in a team environment and alone in a safe, professional, and proper manner
  • Be prepared to travel at short notice. There is a high level of frequent travel and on-site work expectancy with this role
