A cone crusher is a heavy-duty machine used in mining, quarrying, and aggregate production to reduce large rocks into smaller, more uniform pieces with high precision. It is typically used in secondary, tertiary, or even quaternary crushing stages, after the material has already been initially broken down by a primary crusher.
It works by compressing material between a rotating mantle and a stationary outer shell (concave). The mantle moves in an eccentric, circular motion, which continuously opens and closes. As material enters the chamber, it is repeatedly squeezed and broken down between these surfaces until it becomes small enough to pass through the discharge opening at the bottom.
Cone crushers are best suited for medium to hard materials, particularly where consistent sizing and a high-quality end product are required.

The typical reduction ratio of a cone crusher ranges from 3:1 to 5:1, depending on the crusher configuration, chamber design, and material characteristics. This means the crusher reduces material to approximately one-third to one-fifth of its original size in a single pass.
